I was delighted to be contacted by The Coburg Meddler, a blog investigating issues impacting Coburg residents. They are doing a Council election run-down, so subscribe.

These are the questions they asked me, and my replies.

    • If successful in the upcoming election, what would be your specific goals for Moreland?

My specific goals relate to open space & urban greening, services for families & children, and improving Council governance and oversight of implementation of Council’s strategies. I have more detail on all these topics on my policy blog.

      • What do you stand for more broadly?

I am an independent candidate, with children in local schools, and a history of hand-on community involvement. My focus is on improving service quality delivery and dealing with the inevitable changes our covid, and post-covid, world bring. I want to see more authentic consultation by council officers and better coordination between Council silos.

      • Are there any new changes to your ward that you disagree with?

I am against the recent rate increase and “Design Excellence Scorecard” which removes residents right to object to certain developments. I strongly against the continued sell-off of public land by government authorities and the trashing of the Upfield Bike corridor.
