Brunswick needs new green space. Real green space. Space for kids to play, people to relax, or kick a ball.

Friends of Edward Street has been lobbying on this issue for the last few years. Despite all Council’s plans and strategies stating the need for new green space – so far, nothing.

See the amazing work that’s happened in Pitch in for a Park.

There should be a park because:

  • the current car park is under-utilised and the car parks can be moved underground or maintained in a ‘stacker’
  • Brunswick is one of the hottest suburbs and suffers from the “heat island effect” so more trees are crucial for shade
  • local residents and visitors are under-served for open, green space
  • Brunswick’s population is booming and new facilities are needed
  • the site is existing council land and does not require an additional purchase of land in Brunswick
