Mel Yuan for Brunswick

I am announcing my intention to stand for the state seat of Brunswick in the forthcoming 2026 state election. As a three-time candidate for the South and Bulleke-Bek wards in Merri-bek Council, I value the importance of diverse and robust local electoral contests.

2025 started with Trump 2.0 and ended with the Bondi mass shootings. The weakened state of political parties and the death of traditional media mean that strong civil engagement is more important than ever. The “contest of ideas” needs ideas. I will be blogging about my ideas and joining the debates as they arise. The world is a complicated place. A fairer, prosperous, sustainable future can’t be taken for granted.
