Increasing density and more complex rules for higher-density development mean the future for Brunswick is slower. But the current ad-hoc, inconsistent, poorly signed changes should stop.
The inner north is riddled with ever-changing speed limits which make it genuinely confusing for motorists and pedestrians. Speed limits, when not the default, need to be much better signed.
The guidelines are there – they should be implemented more consistently across the inner north. Everybody can name a street that changes speed limits with little rhyme or reason. We have large swathes of newer 40 zones, which are barely marked. The planning zones across the inner north are known – the speed limits that apply should be coordinated and consistently implemented.
