VicTrack owns Victoria’s transport land, assets and infrastructure, but VicTrack are also property developers and they are currently developing around Jewell Station.

Unfortunately none of the proceeds will be used to fund improvements to transport infrastructure or station amenities.

The chosen property developer, NeoMetro, were also tasked with undertaking the community consultation. During that stage various concept plans were made available – which I am sharing with you below.

I have not been able to find final plans.

All the spin in the world can’t disguise the fact that access into and out of the station will be materially reduced. Of particular concern is station access from Union St, which will be narrowed down to the minimum bike path width.

Even worse is not just the shrinking width of the bike path but the fact that pedestrian conflicts will be inevitable. The introduction of a “slow zone” is unthinkable on a highway. You’ll notice “activation spaces” along the bike path – code for commercial spaces. It’s akin to opening a 7-Eleven on the M1.
